I've been a fan of classical music ever since I was in 7th grade and I listened to Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor in music class, it was almost like a mystical religious experience. later Baroque is still my favorite period, with the transitional period from Classical to Romantic coming in at a close second.

Hello TaylorS - welcome to the GMG Forum - plenty of threads around on your periods of musical interest and much more - enjoy!  :D

Welcome!  We have several threads devoted to baroque and classical era music, make yourself right at home! :)  Check these out in particular:

French Baroque
German Baroque
Gurn's Classical Corner

:)  Those are my two favorite eras as well.  Well I don't listen to the transitional period (like CPE Bach etc) as much as the others on the classical corner do, but I think you'll find yourself in good company.

That's what I'd call my home base. :)

Hello, TaylorS!   0:)

Many chances here to expand your horizons as you fly into Musical History, with a few chances to crash and burn!   0:)

Welcome.  If you like baroque you might want to listen to some 20th century neo-baroque or neo-classical music.  Stravinsky (Dumbarton Oaks, Symphony in C), Hindemith (Kammermusic).

Marc

Welcome on board!

Plenty of other (late) baroque lovers around, and plenty of threads to visit .... as has been mentioned before.

(I personally think that earlier baroque is big fun, too, btw. :))

Enjoy yourself!

Hello TaylorS - welcome to the GMG Forum - I love to listen to Minnesota Public Radio.  It is great.  Must be a great state, with having Lake Wobegon and all.  I just finished reading "Lake Wobegon Boy."  It was just like listening to Garrison Keilor.
