I am told that Italy has no comparable tradition to the French chansonniers like Georges Brassens, Charles Trenet, Jacques Brel et al., however my Italian friend recommended Lucio Dalla, Lucio Battisti, and Francesco de Gregori. Can anyone comment on these and similar singers? CD recommendations would be appreciated.
