There are now a number of works on the list which I don't think I've ever heard.
Any suggestions as to what recordings I might be on the lookout for these works?  (Since I'm on dial-up, YouTube samples and downloaded files  don't really work for me).

The ones in bold are by composers of whom I think I've never heard anything at all--not just these works, but anything at all.

(And if you see me cast a negative on any of these, it's pure and simple strategy on behalf of some other piece on the list).

These are the ones I've never (to my best memory) heard:

  Martinů: Piano Concerto № 4 "Incantations", H. 358
Tcherepnin: Piano Concerto № 2,  op.22
  Wuorinen: Piano Concerto № 3 (1983)

Stravinsky: Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra
Berg: Chamber Concerto for Piano & Violin with 13 Wind Instruments (Kammerkonzert für Klavier und Geige mit 13 Bläsern) (1923-25)
   Copland Piano Concerto
Schulhoff: Concerto for piano & small orchestra
Hindemith: Kammermusik No.2 (für obligates Klavier und 12 Soloinstrumente), op.36/1 (1924)

One of Wuorinen's most enjoyable works is the Grand Bamboula for String Orchestra, which Amazon has via a used CD.

Alexander Tcherepnin's 4 symphonies and 6 piano concertos are all available on CD.  Tcherepnin's symphonic works are not Brucknerian, but often have an exotic, quirky individuality.

But I would think that adding more than one at a time would be bad form.

Don't worry, I wasn't planning to do that! It's OK, I'll wait till later.

A most sweet work, and possibly the first which I heard in the composer's presence during a graduate composers seminar in (* shudder *) Buffalo . . . .

Whatever happened to Wuorinen's opera "Brokeback Mountain"? The MET cancelled their production, then it sank out of sight.

It gets in if it gets 40 votes if memory serves, and it seems like it will at least get that in time. I feel bad now that I tactically voted it down to get the Bartok in! So selfish of me...sniff... ::)
