The Bruckner cover is closely related to the Végh Beethoven:

A nostalgic fascination by (for? We have a heatwave.) technology. Or Vorsprung durch Technik.
I love music. Sadly, I'm an audiophile too.

Does anyone have this?...

bear with me, please... it is Rameau? (something like that) I believe, or, at least, a French baroque-classical opera composer, and the opera is two names, Orfeo & Eurodice?, I believe... it may only be one name (Pamplone?), but...

The cover had a picture of one of the characters in alien getup singing. Is there an opera with funny creatures? Can ANYONE help here??? It IS the freakiest cover ever (next to that Holst!).

Please, it's a hoot.

These images do not, however, seem to go very well with the music (very good performances though).
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

I just love Dame Emma Kirkby. You know: love is blind.  ;)

knight66

Haha....especially as Emma is not on the cover. But perhaps her very name is enough. You have the heart of a poet, a romantic one...shame about the eye!  >:D

Who is it then? Looks like her.

knight66

With those apple cheeks! I think that is a little Popsy brought in who fitted the dress.

Surely you jest.  It's definitely Emma on the cover.  Not only does it look just like her, the back of the cd states that it's her and Thomas in the photograph.

Well, my apologies. I have no defense. It still deserves an honored place in the 'other' cover thread.

It is an unusual and very charming cover IMO. Its very point is that it displays the singers.

Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

OK, I retreat in as good order as I can muster...which is not too good, one boot lost and clearly my glasses need replaced.  8)

Wow!  I think these are three of the ugliest covers around.  Guess there's no accounting for visual taste.
