Great discs!

Glad someone else likes them! I adore that band. Far and away my favourite renditions of medieval music. Lancaster and Valois and The Study of Love could as easily have made the list.

I don't know why I've got this reputation of always playing the Goldbergs.  Actually, I've been playing the WTC much more than the Goldbergs in the past couple of years.  Wait, they're not on my list either.  Guess I'm moving on.

1. Sorabji Etudes 44-62/Ullén. Not the easiest kind of music, but quite attractive, and I really try to know these works. Seriously,
I don´t see why these 100 Etudes shouldn´t eventually become a part of the piano canon like Liszt´s Transcendental Etudes.
The recorded sound is good, and so is his playing, although you now and then perhaps feel that a few "rhetorical" points could be made,
but this is a pioneering project, no doubt of immense difficulty, and there is no performance tradition yet.
2. Bartok Piano Concerto no.2 - Farnadi/Scherchen and Richter/Svetlanov. Both very interesting, to my ears. Richter has to get
started, it seems, but then it works ...
3. Felix Glonti: Symphonic Meditations on a Theme by Petrarca, for cello and orchestra. I just like this obscure, dark piece.
Downloadable from the website dedicated to the composer,  in poor sound quality.
4. Beethoven piano sonatas, in various recordings (Yudina, Levy, Richter, a newly bought Rubinstein LP with the 23rd, and others.)
5. Scriabin Sonatas 5-10 /Ashkenazy. Always nice.
6. Scherchen: String Quartet. Haven´t got to know it much, but better and less clinically dry than expected, rather Beethovenian.

On the waiting list: Mozart Symphonies, various recordings.

that´s about it, concerning the latest days ...

5. Shostakovich: Symphony No.12 - Petrenko/RLPO

Don't worry Don, it's probably just me reading into things too much.   :)  I just know the Goldberg Var. are one of your favorite works, and I did not realize you had been playing the WTC more than the Goldbergs.
