The message is where the now popular "vapid banality" originated; it was a response to poco calling Havergal Brian the Ultimate Faker. It is gone now...at least I couldn't find it.

I am really bewildered. I take it that the response, and the subseqiuent ZD7´s departure, had something to do with calling Medtner´s music "vapid banality"?

No, IIRC that phrase was cast at Havergal B.

It's just speculation at this point. I haven't heard anyone say with authority why the dragon left.

Ah, that makes it crystal clear, thank you. Why am I not bewildered anymore, I wonder?  ;D

I do hope ZD7 will come back and so will Elgarian.

I didn't see anything particularly annoying in those "stones" (pebbles, rather  ;)) allegedly flung at Brian and / or Medtner. I do wish ZD7 comes back (if he has actually left), because his contributions were great reads and he had a contagious enthuiasm...

Agreed; if anything, they were as brittle as dry clay when they hit anything (mostly the ground next to the barn).

I'm one of the Havergalians (or Brianites) and poco's comment about Brian didn't bother me. Of course we fans have developed very thick hides as a necessity  8)

Well, some people can really by annoyed by having (one of) their favorite composer(s) called this or that. I don´t see it as a good reason to leave GMG, though.

We Boulezians have developed a really thick skin  ;)

If you think their skin is thick, we need a new adjective to describe their heads. ;)

;D :D ;D ...apparently there is some music that just calls for a redundant pejorative.  ;D

Minimalism?  It's pretty redundant!

Speaking of slogans, Ford Automotive has a campaign where the slogan has the word...

"unstoppable."  ??? ??? ???   Maybe not the best word to describe a car or its driver!  8)

I will need to check his page: thanks for the "heads-up."

He became friends on FB with someone, it's not on his time-line.

Very sad to see ZD7 gone. Come back, ZD7!

I wonder if the reason for his departure was a malicious PM.

Could be, but he would be the last person I could imagine getting a malicious PM. He was always so positive and generally agreeable.

I really hope he comes back. Like ritter said, his posts were very enthusiastic.
