A popular misconception, perpetuated by people who feel that Beethoven was sui generis. Obviously not true, but there you have it. He fits nicely between Black Sabbath and AC/DC, you know, the classic oldies. :D

Last night I listened to Feldman, Schubert, Mozart, Wolf-Ferrari, Hummel and Gabrieli.

Weren't you discussing Haydn symphony 93 or 95 recently? I listened to that.

Yeah., 95 in c minor. Nice piece of work, IMO. What did you think?  And will Coffee like this?  :D

I was listening in bed through my iPhone. Yeah, it sounded like Haydn. No surprises there.

Then it was a switch from a certain sort-of-Mozart piece we once saw in the Name That Piece thread ; )

Oh, there is a fragment of a Mozart piece, which was "completed" by a 20th-c. serial composer. It was a wild ride in the Name That Piece! thread, I don't mind telling you, Dave ; )

Yes, but only when they're played on period instruments.

I could change mine to "The Mahler Nail", if it helps.

Or "The Mahler Thumb".

Hello to all!

I hadn't come back to this thread and was unaware of my popularity.

I like Mahler and I would probably like atonal honking. Works for the geese, at least.
