No, I haven't, but just out of curiosity, why would you want it?

Pretty damning (if not actually harsh) review from Hurwitz: https://www.classicstoday.com/review/senseless-stravinsky-from-luxembourg/

"No one cares about the Concerto in D." Huh? I care.

A reminder of why I don't read reviews. Thanks! :)

Well, if Hurwitz doesn't like it....maybe I should buy it! >:D

Because other than The Rite, the only recordings I have of these works  are buried in the Complete Stravinsky and Igor Conducts Igor sets.

My favorite Jeu de Cartes is the old Karajan/Philharmonia on EMI. I haven't heard Stravinsky's own. I have it, so I should.

I usually can figure out from Hurwitz if I'll like a CD or not, but recently he slammed Richard Strauss's Burleske as outdated and "so anonymous" and Ein Heldenleben as "so damned dull." Not the performers, the works. That was ... a surprise.

Wait! I have that! Listened to it not that long ago, too, since it's in the Remastered set,
Obviously it made no impression on me at the time...will need to revisit it obviously.

Weren't the Luxemberg orchestra on many super budget labels like Laserlight and others?

I should disclose it is my favorite among two, the only other one I remember listening to was Abbado, which I did not particularly like. :)

Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

I don't think so. On the contrary they feature prominently on the rather expensive Timpani label.

Look, it still scores above 5...

Yes. I think it's damning in the truest sense: Lukewarm indifference. A real Hurwitz rip, as someone had indicated above, is actually that makes you WANT to hear it. :-)

Is this the same Luxembourg orchestra that was called the RTL orchestra in the 70s or so? I recall a few cheapish (Vox and the like) recordings with them.

Is there a convenient and good way of collecting the Boccherini string/guitar quintets? I see Brilliant has a series and there are individual or double albums by various people like Mischa Maisky, Fabio Biondi, Roel Dieltiens, etc. etc.

The full Boccherini edition maybe ?

The most striking thing I learned from this discussion of the Gimeno/Stravinsky disc is that now Pentatone doesn't even put their trade mark on the cover. What is that about, a new marketing theory?

Linn also doesn't, or didn't for a very long time. I've seen some new PentaTone discs with a little circle in the corner.

More recently they have made recordings of Pierne for the Timpani label. From what I have heard they are a good ensemble.  Nothing I have read has really tempted me to hear the current release. Hurwitz is just not negative enough to stimulate any reactionary curiosity. :)

Linn doesn't? Also:  dacapo doesn't.
