Is there a general "future releases that look super cool" thread? Either way, I am not considering this, I'm probably going to pick it up, but it'll be a wait of a few months:

Perculiarly, it was recorded in 2010? Maybe a cheapie live deal.

It's freakishly intense, like papercutouts rearranged. Turina's music is not quite that good, but very enjoyable stuff :)

Have been considering this one for the better part of a week:

You know it has my vote. Not sure if I'll get anyone else to agree.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.

I could see it not being everyone's money, Sarge.  But you and I share some interesting musical corners.  I'm about to head out to fetch in some lunch, and I think I'll snaffle this on the way.

Bach's "B'Burgs"
Benny Brittmeister

Totally unfashionable, of course... but one of the  g r e a t  B'burg interpretations... the kind that can very well be "of its time" and still timelessly good. Excellent alongside, say, Egarr.

It is probably an important performance from a historical perspective.  I also have 3 versions of the Brandenburg Concertos by the BPO and Karajan.  The string section of the BPO was just awesome ...

Another way of thinking about it: How bad could it be with Britten counducting the ECO in Bach?

Nice to see reinforcements arrive  8)  As I told Karl in the listening thread, I've owned these recordings since 1969. At this point I have to wonder if my love for the Britten performance is the result of imprinting and/or mere nostalgia. But I do think highly of them.

I have over 30 versions of the Brandenburg Concertos and there clearly are not this number of versions performed on period instruments worth collecting, period -no pun intended.  LOL ...

The problem is I have no interest in owning the Brandenburg Concertos performed by the Hammerfest Baroque Ensemble ...    ;D

I believe my "Recordings You Are Looking Forward To," set up for just such a purpose, was rolled into the "New Releases" thread after an idiotic catfight over whether there was a difference.

I my book the interest in a recording of the Brandenburgs - as well as the interest in any recording - depends upon its musical value and not upon the casual names of the musicians.

Looking for a new recording of Strauss' Don Quixote, and was wondering about:
[asin]B000I0SGYE[/asin]
[asin]B00000E384[/asin]
[asin]B000003CXB[/asin]

I already have the Zinman, Karajan and Kempe.
Thank you!

I think your adjective "idiotic" is a bit unfortunate, Brian. I mean it suggests that you think that people who suggested that change are idiots... and you are not that kind of rude boy.  :)

Brian used the word to describe the virtual cat-fight that ensued the suggestion; but I think the original suggestion itself was rather useless (note: I'm referring to only the suggestion, and not the person in general in every sphere of his life).
