I'm now wondering whether I should buy this

But this I have not - unfortunately - heard.

BTW has it been released on CD?

The new erato

I don't think so. The groundbreaking Reflexe serie (of which I have a couple of volumes on LP) have only been spottily reissued in various configurations based on composer or performer, never as a series as such AFAIK. So a lot of the original LPs seems to have fallen by the wayside.

I vaguely rememered a reissue on CD in boxsets. Here are the details on the one which includes  these recordings:

OK, stuff it into a bargain box - or even a medium priced one if copies of some of the original documentation is included - and I will be all over it like a ton of bricks.

I'm sure that will happen soon enough... 8) If I count correctly, that would make a 58CD mega brick.. :D

Thanks. I now recall, that I passed this box more than ten years ago, because I already owned the most of what interested me of its contents.

And I would not acquire the box for the Tilney recording, which actually includes very little Louis Couperin, only this:

Louis Couperin: Suite en fa majeur
6.Prélude
7.Allemande grave
8.Courante
9.Sarabande
10.Chaconne

11.Tombeau de Monsieur de Blancrocher
12.Gigue
13.Chaconne

Melomania in Paris have the CD for sale right now, their price is steep, especially with postage to the UK. I'm in Paris next in a few weeks and I may take some CDs and try to do a deal on exchange for the Tilney.

Tilney's so exasperating, sometimes he's good and sometimes he's not good at all (anyone enjoy his Frescobaldi?) But he does have a really beautiful CD of French music, which gives me hope for the Reflexe one:

I think the Frescobaldi is listenable, but I was definitely underwhelmed by his recent Byrd CD.

I find more to enjoy each time I listen to the Byrd. But the Frescobaldi has defeated me completely.

I've been listening to some very strange keyboard music today, played by Marcel Peres here

Both are in my cart, waiting along with other stuff. I have to prioritize  ;D.

6 cd set of Granville Bantock's orchestral music. Warmly recommended by a fellow poster.

This one's a no-brainer. The Conifer discs are high quality versions of a sizable portion of Arnold's orchestral output (including the nine symphonies).

Nice cover art  :o
What is that suppose to be other than the painfully obvious?

strange?

Because of the instrument and because it was unexpected to find keyboard music on this CD. The essay by Marcel Peres in the booklet is worth reading I think .

The music makes me think a little of the Cabezon transcriptions that Clemencic plays, just an informal impression based on a memory you understand, but I prefer this Peres recording and I prefer his instrument to Clemencic's clavichord.

Seconded.

Yes it is outstanding, and benefits greatly from the meantone temperament. The harpsichord and clavichord suites are interesting  too - and he even improvises a prelude!  Looks like Andrus Madsen is a musician to watch.

I wonder if Pachelbel knew Froberger's music.

A rare bird nowadays. But even if I hadn't heard it, I would consider it a no brainer.

And having revisited it just now I maintain, that it is a no brainer: Lyrical, expressive and sometimes a bit theatrical.
The voice quality of Andrea von Ramm and Richard Levitt is of course not every days listening, but I think it is relatively easy to acquire the taste for them.
