the other night while driving i turned on the NPR staion, classical and jazz is the usual fare.
they had *new age/space music*, Not sure the group, maybe Tangerine Dream.
Anyway sounded cool for a  moment, even possiblity interesting, but i resisted and shut if off. I bought a  few cds yrs ago, interesting back then but now its a  style i avoid strongly.
I approach the listening mind as a  channel, and wish to allow only the music that I believe should   flow through.

But as you are younger, maybe TD  and other music is just right for you at this phase in life.

Well good luck to you with that road you have chosen. Old or young, TD just sounds awesome.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Recently I have been into Tangerine Dream;D

I seem to recall you also like Autechre... and maybe also Boards of Canada...?  (I love BOC & a good deal of Autechre)

In a bit more of a mellower vein, I wonder if you are familiar with Biosphere's work and the guitar duo, Stars of the Lid?  Really good electronic ambient stuff.  I love that sort of textural stuff...

Late 20th century music? My sister has tons of that! Recently she has been into Barry Manilow.

If and when you rediscover Beethoven and Brahms, please let us know.

I have on Brahms great violin concerto/Oistrakh/Kondrashin/Russian State/1953. Just with the opening minutes I am impressed as to how Brahms may have surpased his master of inspiration, Beethoven. I would venture to guess those who love both concertos, may also agree that Brahms has more to offer than does Beethoven.
I use to love the Beethoven vc/Oistrakh/Klemperer/French National, Though Oistrakh may have another recording of that vc which surpasses the Klemperer.
Yet I'm not so sure how i would feel of another violinist playing the Brahms.
You are right, maybe later down the road, i may find a reawakened interest in Brahms, vc, and his pc's.
The Brahms vc is a  passionate moving work, how can anyone deny that?  :-[

There you go right off with this nonsense of "I like N1, oooh, how much better he is than N2."

Just with your opening statement, Paul, one is impressed as to how you just keep churning out the boilerplate.

Yeah, just ordered Autechre's new album Quaristice. They rule. Boards of Canada or other Warp artistis I have never gotten into much. Well, Some Aphex Twin, B12 and Black Dog.

I have Biosphere's Seti Project on a compilation.  Stars of the Lid I don't know but let me check them out.

Here's the best Stars of the Lid's album (IMO):

"Tired Sounds..." is also an excellent one, but "Refindement of the Decline" is some of them most emotionally moving ambient music I've ever heard.

If you like that, you might also like the Pauline Olveros/Stuart Dempster/Panoitis collaboration "Deep Listening"-- it is not electronic, but all acoustic-- except that its recorded in a cistern with a 40 reverb for accordion, trombone and voice.  Its a mindblowing album...

One wonders equally, Paul, how you can deny so many passionate, moving works from the quill of Beethoven.  And Sibelius.

at least i have a  opinion, which is not something i find much of in any of your posts.
You seem to stay *safe* and keep *neutral*.
To me thats sort of being ...can't find the correct spelling to the french word, meaning dull.

I was not meaning to compare the 2 as to put down Beethoven's genius.
Just saying that some here may alos agree with my opinion that overall Brahms has acheived a  finer concerto. Justa   opinion, not to be noted as  a *fact*

funny, that's the only genre where i would possibly favor Beethoven....... i had a CD with both of those concertos on it, and just looked for it. Haven't listened to it in a very long time....... hm, now that i realize it, i think it's cause i lost it  :(

I saw that word in the dictionary
no
its like *blazey* but i know thats far from the spelling.
Karl seems to bet irate about some of my views, but I rarely see a  strong stance from him.
something from him that I can attack ;D

Paul, it isn't "a view" to think that a street-corner in Las Vegas is all there is to the state of Nevada.
