Sounds painful.

Not if you do it right  ;)

You absolutely must watch Coupling Sarge-- you'll love it!!  I know you will!  The UK version btw not the US remake that flopped. :)

I shall investigate  8)

There's probably a YouTube of Frasier doing anything that a mere mortal could think of, and more.  :-\

Coupling
Black Books
Spaced

See, now you're cheating by naming shows that were actually good. Next thing you know, someone will mention Fawlty Towers, and then where will we be?

I'm a big Scrubs fan, BTW, but I don't expect anyone to understand.

What a coincidence!

Last Saturday my wife and I saw Stripes complete for the first time, thanks to our son who had bought a copy.  Upon recognizing John Larroquette my wife said: "We should check to see if Night Court is on DVD!"

And a few hours later we found a used copy of the First Season at a local DVD store!

I will report back on our impressions of the series: it has been 25+ years since seeing it!

I don't know why that show was so despised, when there was so much talent in it. Man, don't get me started....

Do the hivvy, do the hivvy.... It's stuck in my head now.

I found funny when MI defined Frasier as a "sophisticated" sitcom because that would be, actually, the best compliment to Frasier and Niles, two gentle snobs.  :)

Historically some of my favorite sitcoms have been: Seinfeld; Family Ties; Ned and Stacy, The Cosby Show and Friends... I will also add the British Coupling.

P.S.: I also like the demential Scrubs.

DavidW

Yes Antoine I love Scrubs! :)  Well I watched many of the seasons but not all.

I have the box set of seasons 1 to 8 (the season 9 reboot was generally agreed to be fairly awful). In season 8, they finally did a swimsuit episode!

I think I saw 1-6, never made it as far as the reboot, had only vaguely heard about it.

Since you started another list, I can't resist. My Top 10 sitcoms of all-time:

The Many Loves of Doby Gillis 1959-63
Newhart 1982-90 (the one set in Vermont)
Cheers 1982-93
Married with Children 1987-97  (Yes, I'm embarrassed to admit this  ;D )
Seinfeld 1990-98
Frasier 1993-2004
Friends 1994-2004
Arrested Development 2003-2006
The IT Crowd 2006-?
Community 2009-?  (although Alison Brie's superstructure may be unduly influencing me  ;D )

Seriously, Community's Paintball episodes alone place it in the Top 10 best televsion of all-time.

If cartoons are included: South Park and Family Guy would have to find their way onto the list.

Sarge

Some good ones, Sarge. Mine would look like this:

1. Seinfeld
2. Frasier
3. Everybody Loves Raymond
4. Becker
5. Curb Your Enthusiasm
6. Wings
7. NewsRadio
8. Spin City
9. King of Queens

I don't have a 10th favorite. If Mr. Bean counts, then that series will be my 10th choice.

Ah yes Fawlty Towers!  Been quite awhile I should rewatch it again. :)

Married with Children 1987-97  (Yes, I'm embarrassed to admit this  ;D )

Great list of sitcoms, and "Married with Children" is among my top 3, and I admit this without even blushing  ;D

Peg Bundy: "Did you miss me honey?"
Al Bundy: "With every bullet so far."

I recall Becker being better than you'd expect, considering the cookie-cutter format and Danson attempting a non-Cheers role. It was a preview of House with its subversively cynical attitude and charming misanthrope main character.

The only problem with Fawlty Towers is that it ran for only twelve episodes.
