No, it's not the desert-island Which one Haydn symphony would you choose never to be parted with? For it is an impossible question.

Which one Haydn symphony is represented in your collection by more recordings than any other?

Thank you in advance for taking sporting part.

100 and 104 are tied with 13 each:

Edit: I had Wöldike's 100 listed twice. So the uncontested winner is 104 with 13 versions (14 if we count the chamber version performed by Arco Baleno).

Ain't one, but eleven. Guess I'm more into sets than singles. I have 4 recordings of each of the Paris (82-7) and some of the London (93-5, 101-2) symphs.
If I have exhausted the justifications, I have reached bedrock and my spade is turned. Then I am inclined to say: "This is simply what I do."  --Wittgenstein, PI §217

I'll have to count when I get home, but mine may well be #45 also. Most of my London's are in sets, so I don't have many singles of anything to pad out any one work. If I did, it would be #100... :)

Much to my surprise (!) it was symphony no.94, of which I have at least 14 versions.

Szell, Cleveland
Zweden, NRCP
Hogwood, AAM
Monteaux, WPO
Goodman, Hanover Band
Salomon String Quartet (a string quartet version by Salomon)
Solti, CSO
Jochum, LPO
Davies, Concertgebouw
Karajan, BPO
Bernstein, NYPO
Dorati, Philharmonia Hungarica
Bruggen, OotEC
Fischer, AHHO

I thought it would be 96 or 101, because I tend to listen mostly to those two...

I know! When I read your original post, and before I looked at my CD list, I thought 99 might be the one I had the most of since I've bought quite a few recently. But I only ( ;D ) have nine.
