For the same reason that people are able to leave reviews for CDs they've never listend to.

Why would someone leave a review for a CD they never heard? Your reasoning makes no sense here. Not only that but you didn't even answer my question. You evaded the question, which is a typical response for someone who doesn't really know.

Where exactly is the jerking around if you see a price that you know is too good to be true?

If you go all out to get a television you know is worth thousands for $40, the seller isn't jerking you around. If anything it's the other way.

My comment is based purely on a hypothetical scenario which would entail the seller reneging their original offer and charging you full price for the CD when you paid what they originally asked. It takes a jerk to know a jerk. :)

Because he (or they) is an idiot (or are idiots). No doubt other factors are involved, but that's the necessary condition.

Now, when did I last hear that sort of thing? Oh, yes! Third or fourth grade . . . .

Legal analysis says, as far as I can recall, that it isn't.  The advertised price is an offer to come and form a contract. There isn't a contract just because you say "yes, I'll have that".

Not least because if the advertisement is an error, there isn't a meeting of minds.

The error is irrelevant to the buyer. We see something for $40 that we want, we buy it. It's as simple as that. The error the seller made is of their own doing. They're going to have to take a loss on it.

I'm done arguing with people about this. I'll continue to frequent this thread to keep everyone updated when my orders have shipped. Hopefully, I'll be up to the task once all the orders have been shipped to type in what all I bought, but that's going to be a lot of typing. That would be 109 entries total.

Remember the Dvorak Symphony set which a lot of 'us' got for a few dollars.  I sadly didn't get one but they the seller kept me hanging around for ages, email after email saying its on its way, for weeks maybe almost two months.  The date kept being put back each week.  IIRC it was Amazon USA who did this, honored quite a few then fired me off at the final furlong.  Whilst they kept delivering box after box to almost everyone.

I remember being one of the first to order, within the hour of the thread going live.  Probably because I'm West of the Pond & A good for nothin' Limey, I didn't get one.

Ordered the Rowicki instead.

Its good when you get a good deal, but not much you can do when they come back with the pricing error routine.

The best deal I ever got from England (buying from the USA) was $2.99, new and sealed of Segerstam's Ondine Sibelius set.  It was about $40+ at the time, USA Amazon did honour it (couldn't have been a loss leader could it)?  Not from Amazon direct?

Wow. That does sound like a mistake, especially since it was going for $29.99 at times. Even that's a great deal compared to the ~$15 per disc plus shipping I paid for each of the singles as they were released!

I kept hanging on for that Neumann set, too, while others got theirs, and I ordered promptly from this side of the pond. And, like you, I went ahead and bought Rowicki (and then saw the price drop on that by several dollars afterwards!).

So far I've received two shipping notices from Amazon for items ordered during the ideals sale.

Yeah, that was totally crap was it not!

I'm in the North Sea now rather than the Atlantic  ;D

Give it a few million years and the UK will have drifted over to Boston.  Then Amazon will be one!!

Surely a definate mistake by Amazon, but I got it  :)  I also got Shostakovichs' complete quartets from the USA for $5.99 + the usual £1.24p then shipping.  That was the lovely set by the Danel Quartet.

I've had quite a few bargains like that, but none like the $1 deals.

Hope you all get what you ordered or at least a nice part of it.  I'm both with David W, who said he likes a deal and a fair price, but also with Mirror Image as the buyers 'gotta win some time'  8)

Anticipating potential backlash on their ratings, there are now multiple instances of more than one 5/5 rating from a single customer. ;D And all of that dated Oct. 16th!

I wonder if Scotland will be coming over with us too, those guys may just vote themselves out of the UK in 2014.

But that Dvorak deal was listed for a long time, not just a couple of hours. And it was Amazon itself, not a AMP seller. It was even on their pre-release listing. I bought it. I got it in a more reasonable time than some others because I ordered it sooner and they ran out, restocked and still shipped. It never even entered my mind that this might have been a mistake price. Hell, maybe it was, but if so, Amazon lived up to it. :)

Bargain is hardly an adequate word to describe this.  I paid full price when it first came out, and I still thought the price more than fair.
