Musical Comedy is a genre where classical musicians fuse playing with Comedy. Thought I'd share some of my favourites with you, as I am currently venturing into the genre...

Shredding Videos- these are people overdubbing famous recordings with really crap playing, utterly hilarious to watch when they are done really well. Especially Perlmans ones, his facial expressions are brilliant with the wrong playing!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysHZ9g0UA98 - Lang Lang Shreds Schumann
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67IqeB0JLs4 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67IqeB0JLs4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m08JOODCI0 - Itzhak Perlman Shreds Mendelssohn Violin Concerto
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzZAjIx_yac - Pinchas Zukerman Shreds the Art of Stradivarius

I'm surprised there aren't more of these, they are utterly hilarious!

Victor Borge - Pianist and Comedian: The father of the genre, too many to post here but here's a selection.

MozART Group - a comedy string quartet from Poland who play all sorts of odd arrangements.

Fafner

Victor Borge is an absolute marvel.

I first saw him in this little video and it remains one of my favourites:

Well, while visual, I find it drags on a bit. I prefer this one, if we stick with Beethoven's 5th...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0vHpeUO5mw

I was delighted to have a minute to relive the 'Fliszt' Hungarian Rhapsody. Always a favorite. There is simply no one better than Borge, although I must say many of these others were very fine too. I was not familiar with the 'shredding' genre, but Perlman/Mendelssohn was a gem!  I din't realize the depths of his intonation issues until now.   :D

I'd like to share one of mine, in the offchance that anybody enjoys it.

You may remember 'Hooked on Classics', a project with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra making a commercial album of a classical medley to a synth drumbeat.

Me and two friends arranged it for Viola and Double Piano! Have a listen below:
