I'm not a fan of football. Does that make me better than those who are? Probably.  8)

No, seriously, live and let live. I have nothing against football fans.

However, I've always been amazed by the ferocity with which enthusiasts scream, "Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!"

It makes me wonder about the possible consequences of being inadequately prepared.

I think this depends where you live. I am originally from the northeast and there are lots of people who could care less about football or are casual fans at best. I know many who prefer the puppy bowl.

I would just point out that depending on the team you are rooting for, the listed consequences will likely apply even to those who ARE 'ready for some football'.

Are you talking about my Raiders again?

Wait, I am supposed to be in hiding about my Raider fan status...

BTW, since I was in Baltimore last year in my annual trip and stayed just across from the stadium, and being in LA for 22 years and a Raider fan thus hating anything SF (Candlestick), I will root for your Ravens.

Well, we haven't had a chance to find out for a long long time now. But Boston (3 sports) handled it alright. Let's just hope no sports city is like Vancouver which apparently can handle neither success nor failure.

Zero risk - I rarely ever watch more than 15 minutes of Superbowl.  But my least favorite team sport is baseball ...

On any occasion the Patriots are in Super Bowl, I DO prefer the puppy bowl.   $:)

My brother-in-law is still a die hard Raider's fan.  I STILL believe they should have been in the Super Bowl (the year before they actually went and then lost to the Bucs).  Tom Brady DID indeed fumble the football.  Can't believe they reversed that call.

I guess the power company in N.O. was not ready for some football.

Since I'm never ready for football (except when the Patriots are playing and not all the time even then...),  I suppose I'd better go check the final score on Yahoo.

ETA: of course,  I actually only had to take a look at our own Superbowl thread.

When will the 49ers win a Superbowl?  Quoth the raven......

How were the advertisements?

I guess the power company in N.O. was not ready for some football.

Last year, they weren't ready for some opera.  The curtain for Salome was delayed about a half-hour due to a power outage.

Not that I am a fan of football of any sort, but are we talking about football or that weird American aberration vaguely resembling rugby?  8)

I believe we're talking about American football.

Under current rules, the feet are used much more in volleyball than in American Football.

I wonder why they called it football... So many penalties are for illegal use of feet...
