I have more or less, on CD and LP, most recordings of any Pettersson symphony ever issued, and the Lindbergh series is great and pretty differenet in their intimate and transparent textures.

Thank you for that  :)

Rameau, Pieces de Clavecin 1724 - Blandine Rannou.

Played with a wonderful clarity on what to my ear sounds like a fantastic instrument (A Marc Ducornet after Ruckers Antwerp 1624)

Kontrapunctus

I had never heard of this pianist before, but I'm glad I took a chance! Bold, powerful playing and superbly recorded (24/96)

Re: Raff's Ninth Symphony! Aha! Just what I keep thinking. Some of the orchestration in the Ninth is so utterly, ravishingly, gorgeous I can understand why Raff has such an enthusiastic following! Raff knockers who have judged this composer on the basis of the most well known and most highly rated symphony from this cycle,No 5;should check this one cd out. Listening to passages of this symphony makes me realise why Raff was so highly thought of in his day. I would personally place this on a higher level than the Fifth in respect of the sheer beauty and refinement of the orchestration. But I like them all,to be honest!! The playing and sound quality of these recordings are also top notch. And I love those Arnold Böcklin paintings they've used for the artwork. This one,in particular,is a beauty! :) :) :)

I agree with the majority that the Fifth (Lenore) is Raff's finest symphony (potentially his finest work), but the Ninth is certainly not far behind. Raff is a rather hit-or-miss composer with me - his 2nd and 10th symphonies, for example, bore me to tears for the most part.

A craggy, dissonant work with an emotional gravitas. Connotations, Inscape, and the Piano Quartet (the Piano Variations probably should be mentioned here) find Copland working in a modern idiom, but one that is unique to him.

Good morning Que.
Is it worth my while to put this on the order list?
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Definitely..  :)
A very nice collection with Alberto Crugnola playing in a vivid and articulated but relaxed style. Very Italian.  8)
Well recorded too!

I recall seeing this set getting dismissed out of hand in one of our threads. I came close to never putting it on. If I recall right, it was considered dull and mechanical.
I guess I like dull and mechanical :)  It is rather stately, which can be the kiss of death in a lot of things---especially baroque music, but works well here...and then she completely turns the tempos on their heads.  Love the instrument, too.  For me, "Making the stone stony again" (listening to Goldbergs).

It's all good...

I must confess that I have never heard of her. What an incredible life she had, surviving in the worst conditions.
I can not say that I find her play attractive, but it is without a doubt that we should be grateful for her contribution to bringing the harpsichord back to life.
