Intense (as usual) - but I do have a soft spot for Hahn's recording.

You are not alone.

Thread duty, Brahms Symphony 4, James Loughran from 1974 with the Halle Orchestra.
This was the first and for years only Brahms 4th I had. I found it again on BRO for $3. The orchestra cannot match the big ones, and the sound has issues, but I have always really liked this reading, the tempi and the aura of dignified ardor. Welcome back, old friend.

Some good stuff in these. Predictably (?) I like the first one better.

Thanks Harry for the Sweelinck keyboard recommendation - looks like a great box, but seems to be OOP -  :(

Amazon USA MP had 'new' offerings starting @ about $160 & used ones about 30 bucks less - will add to my wish list, though.  Dave :)

Amazon DE has it, new and at the regular price:

Was this yet another recommendation I picked up from the recitals-thread? Or did I just bump into it looking for more "Masterworks Heritage" releases? Not sure even though I only got it last week ... too many things in my head. The Sayao I should also get soon ... already have the Steber.

Ha - not so sure 'bout that; just not a saurian who's an adherent of the Let's Give 'Em a Nap, They Might Wake Up and Think It's Great School of Pianism.
