Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

And so I did, on my way to choir last night!  Wanted to review both in close order before reporting, dear fellow :)

Listening to Zemlinsky's sublime one-act florentine thriller. Jurowski & co. prove to be a mostly worthy alternative to Chailly's exquisite version.

Afternoon, Greg8)

Yes, I think so, you'd put it on your portable player the other day as I listened to the Stravinsky VC, if I recall correctly.

The Strauss is already in my queue.  Reference Recordings apparently signed with Honeck and Pittsburgh, so there should be more coming.  RR up to this point, a Skrowaczewski disc aside, has not had top flight talent, but they have always delivered top flight sound, which sort of makes sense given that RR founder Keith Johnson was one of the inventors of HDCD, and is also a primary designer for Spectral Audio, one of the uber-high end brands, and one that in my limited experience justifies the prices and accolades.  RR recordings ultimately demand a proper stereo or even multi-channel (for those into that) set up.  No headphone can recreate the physical aspect of properly reproduced bass instruments.

By the way, I bought the Strauss album for my parents last Christmas and we played it on their stereo. Unfortunately, that's how I confirmed my belief that their little artsy fartsy Bose "Premium Jewel" cube speakers are terrible. You know the kind...
