The Mass No.2 in E Minor leaves me speechless. So I listened to it twice today, from Best and Jochum...

Which one do you prefer, Greg?

Dancing Divertimentian

Second piano trio, op.67. Elisabeth Leonskaja and the Borodin gang.

Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Both Jochum and Best are great. I slightly prefer Best only because of the cleaner sound quality. But seriously can't go wrong either way.

Oh certainly, and come to think of it: only what was directly about Ceausescu was broadcasted full color; the rest was in black-and-white.  ;D

Pulled out the '62 (or if you want, the '63) HvK set.  Cranking the 1 and 3 to start the morning.  Been a few years sense I gave this set a total listen so looking forward to it.

I believe that I enjoy a later 1 from HvK, but this 3 would be mighty difficult to top.

Delightful! Actually, so delightful so my wife asked about the music and requested a repeat!  :D  I guess she is a budding Mozart fan!!

I believe Wolfie's flute concertos are my favorite output by him.  Your wife has high tastes.  But you already knew that.

Shostakovich seems to be popular today. I had no idea before putting String Quartet No.7 in for a spin.

Marvellous little piece. I'm glad I decided to start surveying the quartets again, it's reminding how good they all are. Over the last couple of months I've listened to 2, 4, 7, 8, 10, 13 and 14 and I've enjoyed all of them. I haven't even got to a couple of my past favourites yet.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

You're spot on, actually. There were plenty of such documentaries, about the unemployment, poverty and the general decay of the Western world.  :D

Sorry,  John, somehow I saw Moonfish's reply but not yours. I posted that Best has the slight edge for me because of the recorded sound. It's a bit more clear and clean. But both are incredibly performed and beautifully realized.

Actually I'm not in the mood for Gesualdo. Changed to this:
