Light, transparent, lucid 4th Symphony by van Gilse. Like a low-calories Richard Strauss-and nothing wrong with that

Cool cover!
And great music, excellently performed. I'll need to revisit it sometime soon.

The first positive review I read, thus far. Will give it a spin.  ;)
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

Thats because you fail to read my blog, you might have found there a positive review, but maybe that does not count in your opinion. ;D

Parmegiani is a giant.  Glad you listened to and liked it.

Sibelius: Complete Youth Production for Violin & Piano Vol 1         Kuusisto/Gräsbeck

I found myself enjoying these pieces quite a bit. Definitely not top shelf Sibelius, but soaked in his tonal world. Light, flowing pieces that I certainly will listen to again.

Lachrimae Consort play Christopher Simpson's Division Violist - as far as I know the only recording of this 17th century document. The music is wonderful, apart from all the Greensleeves stuff, which wears out its welcome. The virginal player especially - Emer Buckley - is really special I think. This is quite a discovery, I just stumbled it on spotify.
