Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique         London SO/Boulez

A revisit to one of my favorites to increase my Berlioz dosage! Boulez's performance definitely puts this recording at the top of the game. Warm, vivid and electrical soundscapes! Yay!

My thoughts as well. Excellent performance.

Ever heard the Ozawa R&J on Dg?

Not yet! I did like the Maazel performance earlier today. Is the Ozawa an epic performance? Is it in the Ozawa DG compilation you purchased?   :-\

No, I see that it isn't. An OOP recording but with a Japanese re-release?

Tired of seeing all the French music being played here. It's time to give this board a cold breeze from the North ;D -

Listening to Nykken. Remarkable work and performance.

It is not in the box I purchased, alas. I had it in high school, and it's excellent.

An interesting performance. Very lively, less smokily romantic. Not a top choice but good.

Now 21, a piece I know backwards (possibly the piece I have heard most often). Again an interesting performance, quite excellent. It has a lot of drive and momentum.

Nearing the end of my traversal of this box, which I give high marks.

A new acquisition. Listening to Maskarade Overture. Riveting!

Good question, and one I can't answer right now. I think I've only listened to the cycle once before and have very little memory beyond the fact it's sonically a wonderland. The recent explosion in interest (in the Shosty thread) has me listening once again.

I appreciate that, and am patient for whenever you feel you may have an answer  :)
