Symphony #3 (Tennstedt/BRSO)

Finally got around to listening to this set I purchased a couple of years back - starting in with Symphony #3 performed by Tennstedt/Bavarian Radio SO:
quite a good version. The sound has a bit too much reverb but it's not really awful or anything.
I think this box has most of Bruckners music in it - I explored much of Bruckner's work already but theres a bit here I haven't heard.
I decided to kick Vaughan Williams off the list of Composers im surveying at the moment - I will listen to him at some other stage in the future.

Oh, definitely get it. Very nice indeed.  You might consider getting the original issue, like I did, since that Musique d'Abord series is probably skimpy.
One thing: probably due to the age of the recording, the playing time is rather short handed at just 53 minutes.....

There should definitely be a Ensemble Clément Janequin boxset as well!!

Yes, the work might be flawed, dramatically awkward, perhaps even musically inconsistent...but is is endlessly fascinating and breathtakingly beautiful. A must for anyone interested in the music of Manuel de Falla. Sadly, recordings of it are not easy to find these days (except for a bootleg of the staged première at La Scala of an "intermediate" version of Ernesto Hallfter's completion, in poor sound and in Italian translation).

Bought it during a stay (conference) at the Universidad de Málaga, 15 years ago, but never allowed myself enough time to play it. Will do that now, thanks to your enthusiasm .

Bob van Asperen plays some music in D minor by Louis Couperin on a slightly anachronistic and rather lute sounding  French harpsichord - but a very nice harpsichord nevertheless. He plays the music like it's an intense dream - perfect. This is a total success. Bravo Bob, the greatest living harpsichord player.
