Anna Thorvalsdóttir: In the Light of Air

First listen.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was a bit disappointed...
I heard nice soundscapes but nothing really more than that.
Should I give it another spin?  :-\

Personally, I do like her musical aesthetics and what is on this disc, but I think this CD is better:

Brahms third Symphony, I think I deserve it after the roller-coaster day I had today  8)
Cool, which recording? Gardiner, Young and Szell are my favourites for the Brahms symphonies.

But if one must remain serious, Sir George Solti

Doesn't one love typos?
My favourite typos always come from an armature pianist!

Another favourite. Despite the much slower tempo of the first movement, the propulsion is still always there and none of the drama is lost, unlike in Klemperer's turd of a slow interpretation. The orchestral colours sound particularly amazing here as well!

I've been listening to Ives 2nd violin Sonata (via youtube)

Now I'm going to start to familiarise myself with our resident composer Karl Henning:

Starting with this (Op 113)

I'm still enthusiastic about "From the pit of a cave in the cloud", so I'm going to enjoy this a lot!  :D

Thanks for listening!

You're really into Mahler's 7th at the moment dude!

But it's a good thing,  I'm still obsessed with Ives 4th  :)
Haha, yeah it's nice to indulge in one piece every now and then. This is the second time I have really been having a Mahler 7 phase; the first was around November 2012 to January 2013.

Wow, she's stolen the title from Kate Bush's superb album:

What a good idea!

Camphy beat me to it a day or two ago. I sometimes feel like Camphy is my musical alter ego on the other side of the planet.

Two classics, it's a positive if you're obsessed with these. I just listened to MTT/LSO's Mahler 7th last weekend, very nice performance. And the 7th is a fun score to follow.
And Ives 4th graces my speakers several times a month.

Listen to this new purchase yesterday....
