This looks cool:

This is a super cool disc (Rita Strohl is the headliner with a 35 minute piece - never heard of her before), but I am intrigued by the streaming length: 95 minutes. The booklet doesn't give any indication of physical track list. What do they do on physical CD?

aligreto

JS Bach: French Suites Nos. 1 & 2 [Curtis]....

Played and recorded assertively on a robust sounding instrument, these are buoyant performances which demand attention.

Isn't the violin too dominant? Ah, "violin" sonata  :-[

There are 2CDs (for the nominal price of one). Not unprecedented when the program exceeds single CD capacity by a small amount.

JC Bach: Sinfonia in B flat major Op. 9/1 [Gmur]....

I think that Gmur does a good job with the interpretation and presentation of these works. The tempi are brisk and one certainly gets the sense of the transition from the Baroque to the Classical era in these performances.

What...?  :) Could you explain that cover unless it was a Garmin giveaway? Is the marked place Sochaczew?

I would love an opinion of someone who has heard Mozart's Flute Quartets from the same gang.

Disc five.  Opp 127 and 131.  Op 127 starts off a bit light and fun, with hints of late-LvB seriousness, and gradually becomes more serious.  The playing maintains the somewhat laid back feel of the earlier recordings, but the tempi are not slow.  It's really very fine.  Op 131 is all rarified and elevated and transcendent playing, though it is never too heavy, and indeed, when it should be more joyous, it most decidedly sounds that way.  This is some fine late LvB.

Today's mail brought in new purchases, so I decided to make tonight a Czech night with two of the new CDs, plus start on a relatively new arrival

Never heard anything on the Martinu/Novak recording before, and found myself liking the Novak more.
It's been a while since I listened to any of this Dvorak, and literally years since I've listened to even a part of Ma Vlast, so I won't comment on them, except to say most people will probably like Belohlavek's performance.

I think you'll find it ultimately rewarding not to be so harsh on Thielemann. I've heard a lot of Wagner live (not just Bayreuth), and on average, Thielemann's way with Wagner is more gratifying, more quickening, more dramatic than anyone else's. Yes, he's pulling tempos around, but usually you never notice in concert and it serves decidedly to further the drama (or put spotlights on moments of particular beauty; certainly those that CT things are worthy of being indulged in). I've never found myself wanting to hear Parsifal one more time directly after finishing one, but with CT that actually happened. His Tristan on record isn't wowing (his Parsifal is better), but I would still rank it very well above average.

Wagenseil: The official composer of @AAA_national / @AAAauto!

Well I'm no pro critic or anything but I like to really work out why I like or don't like a performance, and often I end up learning more about the music and more about myself. I think I was a lot harsher on Thielemann before I started paying close attention to his performances. In paying attention, I tend to ask questions like: what is Thielemann's intention for his interpretation? Is what ways does this intention come across and where does it fail? Is his interpretation worthwhile, taking Wagner's actual composition (the score) into consideration? How does it stack up with other interpretations? I think that approach is at least somewhat fair and hopefully not harsh on him.

This looks really intriguing and I want to have a listen. I haven't heard the flute quartets played by this lot though. What do you think of this arrangement?

Ravel's SQ:

A much better recording than that photograph of the Backstreet Boys on the cover might suggest.
