Last night:

Utterly charming, all of them, the third particularly so, especially in the second movement.

That second movement is the one of the most beautiful in the violin repertoire. A lovely summer's day and all is well with the world.
You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Kevin Puts: Symphony 2
A moving, memorable and emotive work which is commemorative of the 9/11 attacks in the USA:
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

Second spin, this time through cans.  Not exactly hammerless Debussy, but more compelling the second time around.  This Encke fella might be worth more consideration, too.

A Set of Pieces: Orpheus Chamber Orchestra performing music of Charles Ives. It's a great album, although not carrying the impactful weight of a full-sized orchestra that some might prefer, but there's no lost line, instrument or melody in this stripped-down versions. I feel that exposing all the details in Ives' score is key, and this album succeeds.
There seems to be two different covers in case you're searching for it.

Another spin of the Finzi Cello Concerto.

It's starting to sink in, but the first movement still seems a bit sprawling. The second is a solemn meditation and the finale contains some very attractive melody. Not destined to become my favorite Finzi, but I am starting to appreciate it.
