Listening to Piano Concerto No. 4 in G minor, Op. 40. Great stuff.

I think it may have been Ray who commended this (recording) to me, and it is a beauty.

It sure is. I need to revisit that whole Wand/Berliner cycle.

A bit light on playing time (and the Abrahamsen pieces are an arrangement rather than a new piece) but enjoyable nonetheless.

What conductor/orchestra? Surely, whoever it is, can't better HvK and the Berliners. My favorite Ring cycle.

For Luke:

Never heard the concerto before, I don't think.

A second listen.  Idiosyncratic, filled with personal rubato, accents, and ornamentation, and not a few heavy pedal thuds, the disc is most engaging.  I may have to explore Kamenz's Liszt.  (I also now regret not attending his recitals when he was in town a couple years back.)

You have a link for that?
Spotify. I use the app but found it searching for Rheingold. Should be able to find it through the website.
It's excellent.

A recent purchase and a benchmark recording of J. S. Bach's Motets  :)

Interesting. The last purchase that I made of these works was this one, which I thought was very good....

Starting my weekend listening with side one of this vinyl....

The Chairman Dances...I really like the rhythmic content of this music and it's great sense of excitement and vitality.
Christian Zeal and Activity...Whatever about the commentary the music is absolutely wonderful; lush melodies with beautiful harmonies.

This one contains a wonderful duet for alto and soprano.
