Here are our two "sentinels": Basset Hounds through in through.

Grover, our old man:

Max, our young gunslinger:

We got both from our local Basset rescue society
Bassets rule! I could not even think of owning any other breed. Whenever we talk about getting another dog it is always a gridlock because Basset is the only one i will accept, and my wife will take anything but  ;D

Do not give an inch on this one Orbital.  :)
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

Gizmo needs to be pampered far more given his obviously stressful existence .......

Wow! Your cat Gizmo looks like a younger version of...

...my cat Gourmet! :o

Funny you should mention this. I also thought that they looked alike.   8)

I chose both.

In our household, we have 2 cats, 1 pug puppy (who just got spayed yesterday) and 1 leopard gecko.   :)

Pets are wonderful!

I love the quote from Oscar Wilde about his cats being "the visible soul" of his home. Cats can be so affectionate, but they can also be little pests. It all depends on how they were raised, I suppose.

I've managed to collect two - one is the most docile and amazingly nice thing I've ever come across, and the other is almost literaly a devil - the most beastly, hostile and unpleasant cat I've ever come across (although kind of fun in that way). It's strange, they both get treated the same.
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

Lethe, similar situation here.  2 cats, with 2 opposite sets of listening skills.  One listens all the time, the other.....never!   :D

Wow, good question! Both have their merits. I don't think there's any question that cat takes less time to prepare, but it tends toward stringy and tough. For something like jerky, I'd go with cats. Dog, on the other hand, is more beef-like, though in smaller quantities, and would be better for just regular eating (like steaks). I think it would depend on the situation. If I was going camping and needed something to bring along: cat. If I'm going to have a nice at-home meal: dog. Usually I prefer the flavour of dog, so maybe I should lean in that direction for my vote.

It helps to lard the cat meat with pork fat, or to wrap caul fat around it - and then braise it slowly in white wine and a strong cat stock, with a bit of tomato if you're using a male. This tenderizes the meat and brings out the flavor. I like finishing it in Catalan style, with a paste of almonds, garlic, saffron, and olive oil. When I'm cooking a Siamese, I use Thai chili paste and coconut milk, equally good.

Simple enough question. Yet when I've asked it of people in the past, they've tended to get quite passionate. Surprisingly so, in fact, as they've defended their positions as cat or dog lovers. Even people who profess to hate pets have seemed to get quite steamed about it. Dunno why. ???

So, what about you?

paul,
Look at the syntax I used to change your link to. That is what you have to use. However, the file can't be on your computer, it has to be in the Internet somewhere. The easiest (and FREE) way is to go to photobucket.com and join. Then you just upload the picture to them, and put the link here. It will show the picture just fine. :)
