Hat tip to Zauberdrachen and Aligreto for pointing me towards these recordings, of which I was unaware.
Thanks..

I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

Your post in the thread regarding recordings of these concerti convinced me to buy it :)

(Plus, being a Kremer fan doesn't hurt :P)

Cool, John. I just ordered my next two discs from this set, going for the singles because of my fear of box sets ($$$). I like that the 2nd and 3rd are the original versions, and the performance of the 3rd is one of the best available. Really spectacular.

Very nice, Greg. I listened to some audio samples of the 5th and LOVED Blomstedt's approach. The whole idea of 'cathedral formations' sound like they're fully realized in this particular performance. Lovely stuff and I especially liked how Blomstedt allowed space and the sense of musical flow seemed to come very natural to him and, obviously, the orchestra. Can't wait to hear more of these performances.

Also, I did some calculations and it seemed that I saved about $20 by just going ahead and buying the complete box set. I bought it for $129 off Amazon Germany. 8)

Another souvenir of my Scandinavian holiday,  this time from the Drottningholm court theatre  ( where they were rehearsing  Le Nozze di Figaro during my visit--pity performances only start in August, after I've left):

A total leap of faith with this one but I fancy it.

Listened to a little of this recording on Spotify, it past the test so I ordered a hard copy. Sounded lovely.

Chailly's Mahler is excellent. I enjoyed the whole cycle, but I don't think the 5th, which seems highly acclaimed isn't as good as others I've heard.

Another Spotify listen from earlier that forced me to buy a copy, Bernstein's 3rd and 5th from Nielsen.
