I still think the tone poem Taormina on one of those discs is the worst-composed piece of music I've ever heard professionally recorded.

Ernst Boehe is a completely unknown composer to me and I wouldn't have cared less about his music, but since you call Taormina the worst-composed music ever recorded, I had to check it out on Spotify... 

Haha actually me too. I listened to the opening of that piece and thought the opening was really very nice, except there was nothing that struck me as unique for the time in which it was written. Really just nothing out of the ordinary I felt.

I recall now that you have promoted this recording of the 4th & 5th in the past.

Thanks as well for the recommendation of the 6th, on ECM.  I actually have this recording, but am not too keen on it (it's in my discard pile, ready to go to Amoeba Records - unless you'd like it, that is; lmk).  The  Roman Kofman recording of the Sixth, was my introduction to Silvestrov, hearing it on the radio a few years ago.  I plan to purchase that one in due time. I'll see how I get on with the BIS 4th & 5th.

Oh, the Dean, by far.  It's actually good.

Interesting new composer for me.  He was born in 1970.  He composes in a very neoromantic style.  Both works were composed since 2000.  There are sections were the music does get adventurous.
