In terms of value received (going by the Amazon MP price) you got an excellent bargain.
But I think you know I like this recording, and whatever portion of MI's table remains unbroken I will gladly pound to bits.

Oh I paid less than that! As I said on the SDCBT, some of you may have Russian souls, but mine is pure Scots.  :)

Oh, Scots are nothing compared to the Quebecois--or at least those that vacation here in Florida over wintertime.  It is apparently a provision in the Quebec legal code that Florida may be visited only by those residents of Quebec who have proven their expertise at being cheap.

There's a difference between being frugal, which most of us actually are--frugal meaning trying to make sure you get the best value for your money but are willing to spend when necessary--and being cheap--cheap meaning trying not to pay anything unless you have to, and when doing so trying to make sure you pay the least amount possible.

A frugal person will go to an expensive restaurant and leave a relatively modest tip; or go to an inexpensive restaurant and leave an average tip.  A cheap person will go to an inexpensive restaurant and leave either a small tip or no tip at all.

Updating some Janacek.
Opera suites by CPO Behlolavek on Chandos, and by CPO Jirsi on Dennon.

As we say in Ontario, a Quebecker will gather up the tips.  ;)

I am patient. I want everything so I wait. I saw the VL for nine bucks and pounced.

Cool! I didn't even know of that disc's existence, Ken. Let me how it is. I own that Opera Suites disc on Suraphon which I really enjoyed.

Unplug yr internet, fool!
I barely know Glazunov at all, but time spent with that Serebrier box has been most rewarding.  I hope you'll say a word the relative merits of the two big collections in the composer thread, when you get through them.

The Bruhns cantatas set is ace.  FWIW I got a set of Buxtehude cantatas from the same label and group, which I have also liked very much.  Both phantastic.

a pair of discs from Hyperion that arrived in yesterday's mail
FRANÇAIX: Les Malheurs de Sophie, Les Bouquets de Cythère,  Piano Concertino
oh the horror, it's a duplicate!  I missed getting something new
OTOH I don't have KORNGOLD's Sting Sextet which came with the chamber version of SCHOENBERG's  Verklärte Nacht...
and DOHNANYI String Trio and 2 Piano Quintets
well, they were top-ups which reduced the whole order down by 10%

Arrived this morning: Roslavets Chamber Symphony and Violin Concertos, the concertos played by one of my favorite violin babes, Alina Ibragimova:

the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Pounds the table! I have those two recordings coming the mail as well, Sarge. And, yes, Ibragimova is a babe. :)
