Happy Birthday, Mookalafalas!

;D Thanks.
My previous two birthdays I treated myself to absurd CD-buying binges.  This year I settled for 2 modest boxes (well, so far).  Could I finally be growing up?
It's all good...

Placed an order at Amazon UK.  $8.78 shipping included.  I'll see if I get it.

Todd I am following right in your footsteps.  Just bought the Dana Ciocarlie box from amazon.co.uk.  I hope amazon.co.uk can deliver as they state a 1-4 week delivery time.  What is unusual is that they seem to be the only seller stocking this item??

I also bought this as well:

Latest purchases:

Quite enjoying Dmitri's Concertos of late so thought I'd try this set, which was very cheap ($15 AUS all up).

Wasn't able to find much info about this set (apart from a few Amazon reviews) - has anyone here heard it?.

I thought you already owned the performances in this box, Conor? Seeing the names Ortiz and Oistrakh were used in the Brilliant Classics Shostakovich Edition you and I both own, right? Or am I misremembering that you own that Shostakovich Brilliant set?

Well spotted MI - the Piano Concertos with Ortiz are indeed the same as in the BC box but it's a different performance of the VC #1 (it is Oistrakh again as the soloist but with a different orchestra/conductor and this time it's in Stereo).
Another Violinist performs VC #2 (Sitkovesky). The Cello Concertos are featuring Truls Mork in this box.
The bonus is Paavo Berglund conducting Symphonies #5 & 10.
Edit: and yes you're right, I also own the BC Shostakovich Edition (the old one in the bright red box). :)

Ah, very good. I'm pretty sure I have that Oistrakh somewhere.

I won't be surprised if I don't get it.  That written, I received a follow up email from Amazon UK upping the projected delivery date, so who knows.

[asin]B072K3PLCX[/asin]This star-studded release of Carter's late concertante works has received excellent reviews. I heard Interventions live in concert shortly after it was composed, and know Dialogues from previous recordings, but the remaining pieces on the CD are new to me.

Thanks.  As a Carter junkie I added to my wish list.

The label that produces this set sells it for EUR40 at its website. That said, Amazon UK has persistently maintained the price for two weeks.

Here's the listing: http://estore.ladolcevolta.com/home/69-schumann-integrale-live-de-l-oeuvre-pour-piano-seul--3770001902333.html?search_query=schumann&results=9

Great KU, thanks for letting me know! :D - If you don't mind me picking your brain a bit more; do you by any chance own Jarrett for the same works and how do you think they compare? (asking as I also own Jarrett and was hoping that Donohoe's would be a little different..).

A bit of Erik Satie

Le fils des étoiles: a rarely performed piece by the very imaginative Alexei Lubimov

That is a very good recording.  Well worth acquiring for any Satie fan.

Perhaps a little smaller - I know when I am on my phone, it can really drag a page down. You just have to add height=# (I used 200 here) after the first img, but before the ']'.

yes, I hate when that happens...

I know there is a way to make them smaller here, manually, but I have yet to master that.

Sorry to bother you.
