I have to admit to chuckling slightly as I read all the reasons why you thought you wouldn't like this... and bought it anyway.

;) Well, I just wanted to post that I had some reservations about the recordings and the label in general and basically if this recording doesn't do anything for me, then I'll cease with buying new Chandos recordings. So many of their older recordings have given an enormous amount of pleasure, but it just has felt like over the past decade or so, I've been giving them chance after chance only to end up being disappointed.

I purchased these two yesterday.

Great choices, indeed, but the Rozhdestvensky set is still my go-to for the Prokofiev ballets. You might want to look into getting this set if you haven't already:

Rozhdestvensky is the first recording I found on eBay and only in the US and therefore too expensive. That great box with the ballets is also oop.I'm not that hungy and satisfied with the recordings ,Romeo with Maazel and Previn, the just ordered Cinderella/Ashkenazy and the just discovered "stone flower"  ::) :)

Ah, okay. I guess I should've looked to see this Rozhdestvensky set was still in-print or not. Things go OOP so quickly these days that it's difficult to keep up!

Melodiya is not known as a label that easily re-releases, think about the Shostakovich/Kondrashin symphony set  :)

Having been very favourably impressed by the Beethoven-Berg-Boulez CD by Florent Boffard purchased yesterday (as reported some 15 posts back in this thread), I've ordered his OOP CD ("d'occasion - bon") with the Debussy and Bartók Études.

I've long had this as a download. Time to get the real thing. One of the top 3 versions of the Requiem.

I'm going to have to keep an eye out for it. Do you have the UPC code for it so I can find it more easily? I love Rozhdestvensky.

I don't have the UPC code readily available as this box set is in storage, but here's the Amazon link:

MANdolin guiTAR=MANTAR, I guess.

Arkivmusic failed to ship anything from this order, so after waiting almost a week I cancelled it. They blamed a bug in their order processing system that they are working on. But they did issue the refund promptly.

This is a good reminder I need to demand refunds for the stuff from April those clowns haven't ever shipped, which is all still listed "in stock."

I look forward to receive this one. Marteau's Clarinet Quintet was a real find. Being a virtuoso violinist I have high hopes this will be just as good.

Agreed. They are clowns! It is pure chaos at ArkivMusic right now.

Same issues and more here. I don't know how much longer they can stay in business if every order is a 50% chance something will go wrong.

And their new website still has a lot of glitches.

I did reinforce my cancel order with a threat to contact my credit card if they didn't refund me today. They did do it first thing this morning, going by the time I got their response, even though I sent my email last night.

Contact info if you need it from the email I got this morning:

I also finally got around to acquiring a physical copy of this superb recording:

The Bacewicz Piano Concerto is one of those works that I feel deserves repertory status. It's incredible.

Oh that is funny because I just put that on my Qobuz list a few days ago.  Will be listening to those recordings soon.

The Leonard Slatkin American box ø 13 discs, a lot of titles in it that I don't have

That's a nice set, Listener. I own most of them --- the Copland, Schuman and Piston are especially good.
