It looks like the Minnesota Orchestra has not chosen a replacement for Vanska yet and will be auditioning conductors over the next year or so?

Yes, it seems a number of orchestras are choosing not to leap into principal conductors following retirements. Maybe to recoup costs from a year or more of shutdowns and inconsistent attendance following those closings?

'Goldberg Variations' + Brahms /Yudina /melodiya 2 LP

At a provincial garage sale for DKK 10, or 1.3 Euros.

I already own the LPs (and the Scribendum CDs) & this was for probably re-selling it.

I just went to the best used book & media sale I've ever been to. I got the following for $2 each (except the Magnard 3 CD set, which was $4). I could have bought much more!

I also saw bronzed CDs, mostly on some ASV imports. I checked one, which was manufactured in the UK by PDO. Obviously, I didn't buy those discs.

Great haul, Mapman! Too many recordings for me to comment on, but there are many gems there for sure.

No need to comment! There were a couple CDs I've had my eyes on for a while (Moeran, Chadwick) and some composers that members here have praised (Novak). I also picked up a few things that I know almost nothing about (Romberg, Wallace, Harty). I have parts of the Fibich and Stanford cycles, so it's nice to get more volumes. I have plenty of music to keep me busy for a while!

To the bolded text, now that is an understatement. ;)

Same here. But I ordered these out of particular interest:

That set has been calling my name for a while now, together with the set of wind concertos! :)
Part of what id keeping me back, is the prospect of finding shelve space for them.  Since Harry told me they are the old fashioned bulky type...

Next week I leave for a month long vacation in Switzerland and Italy, and I'll start with a new job on my return.
After that I'll have to figure out what to cull, what to keep and what to buy. Managing my collection almost seems like a second job...  :D

Congratulations!  :) What I also like is that they get a 2nd lease of life.
I'm afraid we are going to see a lot of classical CDs in the dumpster the coming decades....

Through all the troubles at this moment I saw this release, and since I like its freshness and so you will modernity I ordered this, with the confidence that it will give more pleasure as the Tennstedt which is in my playing regime since March 2022. This is a way better option to pursue.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

I've listened to many of those Telemann concerti and love them!  I didn't know about that recording of Black Angels, I'll have to check it out (I've only heard two different recordings).

Mapman, the Frost and Hahn recordings in your haul are excellent.

It's a good solid set. There are no "best ever" performances of any particular symphony--but there are no performances in the lot that are less than excellent. It's all at one superior level, which is why it's such a good set. (Inbal's the other Mahler cycle which I apply this too.)

Lovely. Those Bru Zane releases are so gorgeous and a good example of how presentation and packaging ought to be done.
