Ok, I am way too easily talked into things related to classical music (suffering from cdcdcd). Thanks for the pointer Ken!

Couperin...

[asin] B000OCZ7WK[/asin]

The top three would be (in random order): Noëlle Spieth (Soltice), Christophe Rousset (HM) and Olivier Baumont (Warner).

The Baumont is the only one in print, cheap and he is an absolutely superb harpsichordist, so an easy choice - well done! :)

Well, then it has to be stellar performances...  !!    :) 8) ??? >:D
Another helping of harpsichord, please!

More harpsichord recommendation... Where to start? :o  A lot is posted in the Baroque threads. What kind are you looking for?

Another BIG set that is a winner is Scott Ross' recently reissued Scarlatti set. Try some Bach: maaanny options there - check HERE.

Another French major harpsichord composer would be Jean-Philippe Rameau - Rousset (Decca) is good, so is Blandine Rannou (Zig Zag). (Spieth, Baumont and Ross are out of print).

Drop me a PM if you have any questions. :)

Hey! Coincidentally I just mentioned that one. It's been a long time but I remember that fondly. Not much recorded in the 60s.  I am curious how it holds up.

That showed up in my mailbox just yesterday.

No orders or arrivals today. Which is fine: I have plenty to listen to already.

Do you use 1 day shipping with amazon prime Sarge?  It seems as if mere hours after someone recs a recording, it's spinning in your player! ;D

AmazonDE probably has a staff member whose sole responsibility is looking after Sarge's orders.  :P

Speaking of Amazon,  from Amazon MP,  I decided to get two Hoggy Vivaldi recordings that I don't have.

The Opus 11 I'm buying used from Zoverstocks, since the only listing under "new" is for an ArkivCD.

I'm up to several recordings of this piece and am not weary of it.  I've loved Fricsay's touch in other music.

Claudio Abbado: THE SYMPHONY EDITION (DG, 41cd, 2013)
[Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Mahler]

There was one Amazon customer review of Abbado's live-in-Rome Beethoven cycle (its original release in 2008) that said the sound had been botched compared to its DVD release.  Does anyone know if this problem was addressed with the inclusion of that cycle in this big box?  (Assuming it really sounded that bad.)

_Looks_ nice, John. ;) The Capucon looks best, I have a recording of Ravel by them, it was good. Pay extra attention to that one.

No, I've never used Premiumversand. It isn't necessary. The Bundespost and German Amazon (and their foreign slave workers) are so efficient there is usually very little delay between ordering and delivery. Order in the morning and the package arrives before noon the next day...and that's with no shipping charge (for orders above €20).

Edit: Many of the German marketplace sellers are amazing too. One of my favorites seems to be glued to his computer, awaiting orders. His record is 20 minutes from the time I placed the order to his confirming shipment  :D  I placed the order at 3 pm and had the CD the next morning at 8:30.
