Telemann fever!  :)

Do you have the "Tafelmusik" performed by Musica Antiqua Köln?  :)

[asin]B003W16TAE[/asin]

Hmm, I do not think so (perhaps in the "piles"  >:D). A "must"?
I think the ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln should be honored with a release of all their recordings...  8)

You're welcome. And thanks to everyone for the suggestions of what Dvorak to listen to next.

The Piano Concerto, preferably in Richter's version. Indispensable!

Also, welcome to the forum!

Is it only purchases which are to be posted here? Or are 'unexpected gifts arriving in the mail from ex-girlfriends' eligible too? I hope it's the latter...

Dvorak: Symphonies 7 & 8, Colin Davis, Cgb.
Rachmaninov: PC 2/Prokofiev PC 5, Richter, Stanislaw Wislocki/Witold Rowicki, Warsaw Philharmonic.
Schubert: 9, Furtwangler, BP.

And the bonus is that I'm completely unfamiliar with them all - so they're 'new' music.

She has great taste. All three are excellent; the Rachmaninov/Prokofiev disc, in particular, is a great favourite of mine.

Addendum: comparative review on MusicWeb HERE - price may make a difference, unless you want both?

Both are great sets of performances but the Freiburger set is particularly fine I think.

Leslie Howard is a fine pianist, but what is impressive is that he recorded the entire Liszt's piano oeuvre, more than the mastery of his interpretations; there are much better performances than the Howard, in my opinion.

Not of everything, merely of the usual suspects. His take of e.g. the Schubert, Beethoven, Hummel, Berlioz or (most of the) operatic transcriptions is excellent in absolute terms.

Just bought:

I would love to read your impressions of the King Olaf recording! Looking over your purchases I realize that I am not at all familiar with Moeran.
It looks like a great haul of music, John:)

Yes it rather is Karl. As far as I am concerned this is the best  complete interpretations you have, and I was rather surprised that Que had some misgivings in regard to the first disc. Still beats me why, having listened several times to it. But then Que is a bigger expert as I am. :)
