Delalande: Te Deum [Christie]....

Nice!  :)

Very high on my wishlist, ever since its praises were sung here.

Yes indeed, I purchased for the same reason. My expectations are high since I regard both DeLalande and Christie highly. I will of course post mt thought as I get to listen to the CD.

I went back to the regional library and hit them up for another 60 or so discs, at 50 cents per case. Highlights include 6 Spohr symphonies, Gliere chamber music, several Shelley Liszt discs, Korngold's Symphony (shrink wrapped), Hamelin etudes (also shrink wrapped), Raff trios, Chaminade piano music, 3 discs of Gouvy, and a lot of chamber music by lesser known names. I am going to sell a dozen or so still in their shrinks, so the net cost will be a few bucks.

Thanks! I'm also filling a big gap since, to my shame, I don't have any recordings of Martinu's symphonies  :-[.

Having written about Jonathan Nott's excellent Mahler 9, I wondered why I had nothing else by him. Amazon 2nd hand area is very useful. On their way are Mahler's Symphony no 1 and a disc of Douglas Lilburn pieces none of which I have ever heard.

Just wanted to share this beautiful packaged box from Ricercar with 8 Cd's and a big bound book added, that arrived just 10 minutes ago. Not often do I see such a feast for your eye. Effort was not spared, nor money, to present the music at the time of Louis XIV.
The CD'S are packed separately in a book sized cassette, with a hardcover book, brimful with info about the music and times of this illustrious king.

And this double cd was also in the package.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

This one did the rounds here some time ago and since I have never heard any of his music I decided to start here.

That disc is a pretty good intro (though some may find Voice pretty jarring as an opening track).  I would avoid the Alsop orchestral disc on Naxos, though.

Ha!

Cheers, king ubu!

My bottle of Nero d'Avola is alas empty now ... and it's time to call it a day (with disc three of the Concerto Köln set right now) - but I'm looking forward to another disc by L'Archibudelli! Not sure yet about Vivarte Vol. 2, but what I heard by them from the first Vivarte set was pretty good indeed!

It's a very good disc, but this 2-disc set is better IMHO:
