An earthquake 7.0 on the Richter Scale hit Sichuan province in China on Saturday morning. About 300 km south of the previous earthquake, and being 1/32 the size (the last one was 8.0, which is 32 times larger), it nevertheless is very powerful. So far hundreds have died and another thousands injured. Rescue effort is underway. The response from the government, army (thousands of troups deployed and unfortunately, at least 3 already lost their lives in the effort) and the general public has been fantastic.

I was just in the area two weeks ago. I have told them I'd go there whenever called upon.

Prayer much appreciated!

I have to admit that as a result of not being aware of which part of China you live in my first thought when reading the title was 'I hope springrite is okay'...then I saw the name attached to the topic.  :-[

In any case, I'm not the prayer sort but I do wish all of those suffering as a result of this the best.

Being far away from Sichuan, I am fine, obviously. But Kimi has some connection with Sichuan and earthquakes, apparently. She was born just before the last 8.0 hit five years ago. Right after this earthquake, she got sick. It is 2am and I am staying up all night to monitor her changing body temperature as Vanessa gets a bit of rest. Hopefully we can get this under control.

Meanwhile, the death toll has climbed to 160 and climbing (five years ago it was almost 100,000) and injured is up to 5,000. Still 2 days left in the window of live to try to get the buried out of the rubble. I was nice to see a six year old dug out yesterday. She was smiling and said "I don't mind the pain at all because I am so happy to be alive."
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.
