How much alcohol do you drink?

I'm currently on an alcohol free phase and feeling really good as a result. Its for health reasons.

Generally I would drink 1-2 glasses of wine per night with an occasional alcohol-free day maybe twice a week.

I used to brew my own wine for several years and was drinking more during this period. My wife and I would share 1+ bottles a night.

We've both cut down in recent years. I find if I have more than 1 glass now I suffer negative side effects :( which is really dissappointing as I love the whole wine culture of selecting a bottle, the ritual of opening it [although this has been diminished in recent years with the advent of screw-tops], pouring it into my favourite glass, smelling it, tasting it and of course, the mellowing effect.

So I'm curious on your thoughts regarding alcohol consumption :)

Gave up all alcohol right after our honeymoon. Last bottle we shared was a Lanson champagne. Just felt I didn't need booze any longer - especially as:

a) after turning veggie, alcohol seemed to be having diminishing 'effects' ;)

and

b) my best friend and my father both have drink problems.

The wife still drinks ... or at least, will do again once pregancy and breastfeeding are over. But she's a very light drinker anyway, so I can't see her having more than a couple of glasses on a Friday or Saturday night while we settle down together with a movie and eat a mountain of cheese! ;D Looking forward to that, actually, as most cheeses are off the menu as a 'together snack' right now, what with baby and all.

I usually drink either nothing or else 1 glass of wine a day with a meal. Sometimes, I have a beer instead of the wine. But, when out with friends I can drink considerably more.

Wow, you get wine in bottles? Screw top or not, that's pretty uptown!   :o   :D

I used to drink a pretty fair amount. Now, perhaps 6 bottles of wine and 10 glasses of draft beer and maybe 6 cocktails per year. I have no anti-drinking bias, it just doesn't interest me like it used to.  :-\

Well, when I was a teenager it came in an unmarked plastic bag! ;D

Almost nothing. I went for Occasionally 1-2 glasses per month.
It makes me dull.

1-2 per week, but not always socially. Often, a smooth glass of bourbon + Bruckner = bliss. :)

That's not counting the tequila, of course? ;D

I drink about once or twice a year (and very little too), so I went for the "never" option.

Not true at all... (my opinion, of course.)

Many people wouldn't enjoy it UNLESS they were drunk. ;D (Perhaps not even then.......)

Even when out for a "happy hour" with friends, I seldom have more than two drinks. As a rather large person (196 cm and ~95 kg), I can consume quite a bit with minimal effects. But I am never looking for a buzz or drunkenness (not since my first year of college over a decade ago anyhow). I drink because I do enjoy the taste of an occasional beer, whiskey or whisky... or even a heavy red wine when out for dinner with the wife. I probably would drink more wine if I spent more time investigating which I would likely enjoy. When I allow the beverage "experts" at the local sellers to advise me, I tend to run into rather bad things... though it may just be attributed to a difference in palates.

It varies, but I probably average about 1-2 glasses a week.  This consists almost entirely of wine and hard liquor.  Most beer upsets my stomach, so I seldom drink it.  (Certain Belgian beers don't bother me, and I will drink them occasionally.)  In a restaurant or social gathering, I'll usually have a glass of wine with dinner, and sometimes at home I will have a glass of wine or a shot of a high quality distilled spirit.  I have only been completely drunk (light-headed, staggering, tripping, slurring my speech) once in my life, and I hated the experience so much that I do not want to repeat it.

I drink alcohole probably 1-2 times per week; and normally it would be something like 1-4 units. When I was younger I drank a lot more, and I found it quite fun (but more because it was the preferred way to socialize with girls). Now I almost only drink, because of the taste and I don't see any attractiveness in being drunk. Probably the cost of the hangover (which tends to last longer over the years) outweighs the the fun that could be derived from such an experience. I know several people who drink, because they really like the effect of the alcohole and that is a bit more warning.

Maybe I'm becoming an alcoholic, I dont know, but I've been regularly drinking one beer each night.
