Felt like I was neglecting this thread, and now I feel I'm monopolizing it ::)

Anyway, a shot from yesterday morning. Took an overnight trip into the mountains.
Hah! My feelings are just the opposite.  ;) I'll try to restore balance to the thread when I get to my apartment, where my computer, photos & Nikon USB cord (I'm sure everyone appreciates the move away from the standard mini USB  ::)) are waiting..  8)

Leaves and water, love 'em!

Indeed. I would buy a coffee table book of Karlo's images if he ever gets published  8)

Wonderful! I'd like to see more of these. as I'm all for cohesive series of photos with a uniting theme instead of just random single images.
(High Noon would probably work even better composition-wise if the dog had had the good sense to lie a bit farther from the camera ;) )

I'm in!
Cheers, friends. :)
I probably ought to start planning one while the market is still there. . .

You're right...but it was the most uncooperative model I ever worked with  ;D  So what can you do except crank up Photoshop 8)

I love that one, too.  I'm curious about what it would look like in black and white...

Since the original is almost a monochrome brown, I never considered converting it...until now.

I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of doing a kinda grungy version.  I'm heavy handed with contrast >:D >:D.

I'm impressed that you were able to darken it while still keeping the detail in the shadow area.

Software :) I use lightroom, which is great at pulling stuff out of the shadows, and then switched to a fantastic black and white program called Silver efex pro 2. It actually has a slider that will lighten the shadows and darken the lights simultaneously...it's amazing, but of course makes the pictures look all wacked out if over used.

Very nice indeed! I can be rather heavy-handed with contrast, too  8)

Hmph. Don't talk to me about image manipulation software, unless they are free. . .
I use Nikon's raw editor ViewNX, IrfanView, Paint (the height of photo editing software, reserved to cloning out spots & cropping  ::)), and GIMP. I had a trial of Photoshop around the turn of the year, though, and would love to have it still, and not only for stuff like this:

Nice! I love an angry cloud.
Actually, most of my software is free, although it's often not supposed to be.
I had photoshop, but as I can do most of what I want with Lightroom, I found I never used it.  I would study how to use the features, and then forget again because I used it so infrequently.

Me too, at least when I'm inside - or if I'm carrying the camera.  ::)

My problem with software, too.

Flickr doesn't have a really high concentration of intellectually stimulating discussion, but this group is certainly a gold mine, with many a discussion worth looking for other visual artists, and even artists whose medium isn't visual.

Wonderful photos, Greg!

The last one looks quite dark, and has some residue of Christian symbolism. .
