Very nice. I've seen that place (in photographs) before:)

Yep, one of the most photographed spots on earth. I've been there many times (it's a must-see for family and friends visiting from the States), enough times to be sick of it now  ;D

The landscape is more interesting than the castle, going by the photos in that article.

Nice angle for the castle.  But the village facade...any other photos of Fussen?

Well I'd naturally agree (see my photos on flickr, and count the ones with landscape/nature, and the ones with architecture...), if I had to choose one over the other. But architecture is a part of landscape, where it exists.

Füssen is a few miles northwest of this spot. The village beneath the castle is Hohenschwangau. I don't have many shots of the village. When one visits a place so often, photos seem superfluous. Here are the few I have from my last trip there:

And yet, often the best photographs are of subjects that we have come to know well. But that kind of photography is of course motivated by other things than the photos a tourist takes when visiting a place for the first time.

Nice photos, I like how the castle is small and in the distance. Reminds me of Atget's work, how he often either gave less emphasis to the thing that was - at least seemingly - the object he photographed, either giving something else equal or more weight in the composition.

My problem is that when I visit these places I'm usually the tour guide. Photography (other than snapshots) takes a backseat. I need to get out on my own more often  ;)

It would be hard to concentrate on photography while being the tour guide as well. And yes, that's the obvious solution. :)

Both versions work really well. Beautiful.

Throwback Thursday, to 1969, an era of long hair, short skirts and monster convertibles  8)  The subjects: my girlfriend and her Oldsmobile Delmont 88. This is actually the first photo I ever took. I didn't have my own camera; I borrowed a friend's Canon FT (a few months later I bought a Yashica rangefinder, and a few years after that a Canon FTb).

Very cool. 45 years of photographing the same stuff.  8)
I took my first photos probably in 2004, this is one of them, I think..

How silly of me. Now it should be visible if you open it through the link.

Thanks. I do think (and hope..) I have come a long way since then, though, although I do like that composition :)

I did some more cleaning to this one

Earlier today, under the 17th Street Causeway in Fort Lauderdale.  To my left, the Intracoastal Waterway.  To my right, Port Everglades with the channel to the ocean to my right.  The clump of cruise ships in the background of one photo is part of the reason Port Everglades is set to be the second busiest cruise ship port in the world this year.  (Miami seems to be the perennial number one.)
First for North Star, trees blowing in the wind.  Stiff breeze today.

Not sure why the image editor supplied a black border when I resized this to meet the forum limits.
