Queen is like the '70s Beatles. Sort of.

I wish I felt that way. I really wanted to like Queen. I don't hate them, or even strongly dislike them. But the only songs of theirs I like are "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Under Pressure," and I didn't know who those songs were by until the '00s. I always confused them with Kiss. With very few exceptions, the only music I paid attention from the mid-'80s on was classical.

The Beatles, OTOH, I loved from the very first second I put "I Want to Hold Your Hand" on the record player. My father brought it home for me, knowing how much I'd like it. I think he liked them, too: though he would bitch about spending "so much money" on that "goddamned music," he would always drive me downtown to buy new records.

Thanks for reminding me about Kiss - another for the list!  ;D

Yeah, they're on my "don't like" list, too.

"Under Pressure" is smashing;  and one of the incidental reasons to love Grosse Pointe Blank.

This personal anecdote may ultimately be of no service to you, but (in case) . . . if every Queen album but one were to disappear from the world, and it was up to me which one would stick around: Jazz.

I am listening to it now. It sounds like a Muslim call to prayer.

Our fathers were related, apparently.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

"Mustapha" is a great opener!  And perhaps you knew that Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara in the Sultanate of Zanzibar . . . .

And I thought you and I had absolutely nothing in common...but there it is!  ;D

I'm going to change my list to reflect that.

There are a few good songs on there but I find that album weak compared to others. But Queen with filler is still Queen. :)

Well, all right, dear fellow . . . but I am inclined to endorse the chap who wrote on Amazon:

QuoteIf you are a Queen fan listen to this album ten times through headphones..then tell me it is not the greatest rock album of all time! If you don't get it then you are missing the point!

I for certain do not like "Fat Bottomed Girls"!

Get on your bikes and ride!

Oh, I understand.  Perhaps a bit similarly, while I love News of the World, I scarcely ever feel the need to listen to the first two tracks. (Sure do love track 3, though . . . .)
