This got an enthusiastic review (and editor's choice) in the latest Gramophone. (Just throwing it out there :))

I've stopped following Gramophone. What did they like about it? :)

This:

Hands down the best. Terrific sense of narrative arc and absolutely gorgeously played.

Placed an order for this from Amazon seller and just received package......with some frakin Latin dance music band CD lead by guy named Luisi  >:(

Excuse the almost unreadable quality - it's dark and neither flash nor no flash produces acceptable results :-\

Who's the seller, BTW.  I've had a rash of wrong CDs sent recently, from "GoHastings" and "Newbury Comics."

Yes, I've used them often.  Also "classical_music_superstore."

Cheers.

Seems about what I expected. Still, and even though Luisi's isn't exactly overstated either, perhaps I'll pick it up. Haitink's ability to quietly build momentum can be easily underestimated, but when it works, I always find it worth experiencing.

Eine Alpensinfonie

I feel reasonably well qualified to answer this question, having on my shelves 77 commercial recordings of Eine Alpensinfonie.

My own favourites are Carl Schuricht, Rudolf Kempe/RPO, Horst Stein, Frank Shipway

Welcome to the forum, Eine Alpensinfonie!
It would be interesting to read why you have chosen these. :)

Yes, welcome!
And I agree with Shipway, it's awesome!

I may consider selling you my copy Renfield. Do drop me an e-mail to:-

This is one of my favorites, too. I have the SACD--the sound is amazing.
