SO. There is this hotel in Hudson, NY that apparently charges you $500 if you write negative reviews after staying there. I was thinking this must be a hoax, but then sure enough on yelp, from 2013, there is a review that talks about the $500 fine that will be charged to the wedding party for the negative review. Since just yesterday, yelp has more than 15 pages of new 'reviews' about this place, all of them slamming the place for the poor policy. Ain't life grand?!?! :)

Hotel management must be stupid.  What stops people from waiting to get their deposit back and then slamming them?  Also they are in deep shit if anyone takes them to small claims court, because it is simply not a defensible practice.

I thought what's defensible depended upon who could hire the most expensive defense?

In US practise, claims under a certain amount (usually $2500) can be filed in a special court, in which normally the litigants present their case on their own, with no lawyers helping.  If you ever see Judge Judy or saw Judge Wapner on TV, you have seen one in action, modified of course for TV.

Judge Judy should laugh their policies right out of her courtroom! :P

Oh my god, she's awesome. I haven't seen her show in a while, but I like her style.

Favorite line ever:
"Sir, there is nothing in the penal code entitled 'domestic dispute'. That could mean that someone didn't replace a toilet paper roll!"

The show should seriously contact them if a case is filed.
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".
