Is anyone out there doing 5:1? I am getting an Oppo blu-ray player that does multichannel in several different formats, so I am looking for good multichannel recordings. I got the 11 disk "10 years of Pentatone" and their Walkure and Rhinegold. Looking for more. Multichannel blu-ray or HD audio is fine too. Any favorites?

I have a 5 speakers + passive subwoofer system.

I haven't encountered a bad multi-channel recording. They take seriously producing them and that's why even the stereo CD-layer of hybrid SACD discs tend to sound very good.

'Death and Devotion' disc on Channel Classics of 17th century german cantatas is a SACD I wouldn't want to be without.  :)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I'm finding very few options for multichannel music, which is interesting because there are all sorts of "HD" audio formats. I haven't found any advantage at all to bitrates higher than CD quality, but I've found that multichannel provides MUCH better sound quality than 2 channel stereo. I guess most folks with 5:1 use it for movies and don't even think that music could have the same kind of sound.
