Last count, is Shosty the one you have the most cds from (minus brick sets)?

Hmmm...that's an excellent question, Bill. Let me think about this one. I'll be back...

I'm talking out of the way stuff....minutia.....hat most folks have not seen until you posted.  If that is the case, then you gotta go Shosty!

Yeah, Shostakovich takes up a huge part of my collection. Realistically, it would be hard for anyone to actually know what Shostakovich I own without me listing all the recordings, but, let me put it to you this way: when searching 'Shostakovich' on Amazon under CDs, I own almost everything on every page including the box sets. :) So, in this regard, I would definitely have to go with Shostakovich.

I bet I stumped you on this one, John. Oh yeah, Rieu recorded Shosty.  8)

Oh, I should have added I only own recordings from respectable musicians, which most definitely DOES NOT include recordings from Rieu's schmaltzy 'artistry'. :)

Florestan for example picks women composers. Even bearded ones.
Oh, good. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of that each time I saw that picture. Thanks for mentioning it.

And thanks, Florestan, for changing your avatar. :D

I've never considered a non-composer avatar. Personally, I love composer avatars and love people who support their composer of choice. There's no better way to show your appreciation for a composer than wearing their picture proudly. This said, I present to you....Dmitri Shostakovich! My favorite composer and one that I consider among the greatest of the 20th Century.
Well, I do love the 9th symphony. A lot. And the E minor piano trio. And the 8th SQ, though I'm sick of it because I played it in high school. So, I guess I can make do... :D
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

I would have never guessed Bizet made such a strong impression on you, guys.  :D

I voted for Bartok, but really I decided that I don't like composer avatars so much (hence why I'm no longer Ravel). I think that you should pick a photo involving something else that you are passionate about! We all love music!

Yes...I remember it well, those weeks when your Delius avatar showed your "undying" support for that composer

Completely off topic (again), but hey, what's the prob? Because this is weird and almost scary: I watched the final episode of Twin Peaks today, and after that some Twin Peaks documentary, which a.o. discussed the ideas for the third season that never was to be .... and then I returned to the real world to learn that David Lynch tweeted today that this third season is finally on its way! To be broadcasted in 2016!

25 years after the final episode of Season 2, just as 'Laura Palmer' had 'predicted' in those dreamy and weird Black Lodge scenes.

My theory is that Mirror Image (John) is actually 8 different people all living in one room, they share a computer, a stereo and the same bank account. This would explain the constant avatar changes, extensive listening and excessive spending!  ;D  ;)
