Quote"It's the discovery of the century", commented Vega DiMeo, Chairman of Nintendo of Europe. "Discovering this game entirely rewrites video game history."

Buried in an underground storeroom at Nintendo headquarters in Kyoto, Japan, a demo cartridge of a long forgotten 8-bit video game called "Mega Composers" was found. The game, dating back to 1986, features six stages, each with a playable character from the world of Classical music. The objective of the game is to beat every stage in order to reach and beat the final boss, which, despite the pixelated design, looks very much like Cindy Lauper.

"It's really fun to play", says DiMeo. "When playing the Handel stage, for example, an 8-bit 'Hallelujah' choir chimes in every time Handel's huge swirling wig wipes out an enemy. And the Schubert stage has Der Erlkönig hunting you, and you have to finish before time runs out."

According to sources at Nintendo the game was cancelled in late 1986. Much of its design, however, was recycled for another game. The Classical composer characters were replaced by robot bosses and the game was soon released as "Mega Man" in late 1987.

Amazing! :o

The Six

I don't think this is real. Looks like a nice fan project with a made-up backstory.

Indeed, it was meant as a joke. ;)

I made that photoshopped Mega Man parody some time ago, didn't know what to do with it and thought it might as well be accompanied with some mock origin. :P

I remember playing this as a kid. It had a lot of glitches, though. I never could get the Schubert level finished, and half-way through Beethoven the soundtrack ceased entirely.
