Minor Key

Hello everyone!
I'm just your garden variety newbie to classical music. Pharmacist by trade, 47 y/o and have just "discovered" classical music. Mozart was my introduction and got me hooked, especially Sym25 and Sym40. From there I progressed to Dvorak, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Bach, Berlioz, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Wagner and all the rest.  Lately I have been absorbed in Sibelius and Mahler. Mahler especially captured me with his Sym9. For some reason I am drawn to the minor key symphonies. Anyway I'm glad to be here and have already spent a lot of time on this forum and greatly enjoy it!

Welcome! Do you like Mahler?  :)

Welcome, Minor Key! (Perhaps you are related to a long-lost member here, D minor, who liked works in that particular key.) In any case, enjoy yourself here.

Wlcome to the forum, Minor Key! :)
I'm very glad you like Mahler (as well as Wagner, I can assume), he's one of my favourite composers too.

Greetings from Mozart's Vienna. So you are a pharmacist by trade. My ex husband was a doctor of pharmacy and I was trained as a hospital pharmacy tecnician in the U.S. Air Force back in 1978. Small world... Anyway, welcome to the forum. Enjoy.  8)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Yes I do love Mahler's music. In fact I listened to a new recording of Sym2 this morning. Amazing...
And yes it is a small world, pharmacists are like a brotherhood. Very nice to meet you.
And very nice to meet everyone! Thanks again.

Don't tease us! Which amazing recording of the 2nd did you hear? (Feel free to post in the listening thread or the Mahler thread.)

:)

I have been listening to the Suitner recording. But since I'm a newbie I would appreciate a recommendation. Thanks

No recommendations for 2 from me yet -- though I am sure you would get some if you asked on the Mahler thread.
