For the love of Shakespeare, when did English orthography/spelling have anything to do with how something is actually pronounced?  :o  ;)
Poppycock, according to misters Featherstonehaugh (pronounced "Fanshawe"), Cholmondeley (pronounced "Chumley"), Berkeley (pronounced "Barkly"), Mainwaring (pronounced "Mannering") and Belvoir (pronounced "Beaver").

I thought I had given my preferences: a good number have already been mentioned.  Still...a few new ones here quickly off the top:

Bruckner, Hartmann, Ives, Krenek, Mahler, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Schumann, Scriabin, Taneyev, Toch, Vermeulen

Now, that is the best possible argument for Spanish to me made Official Language for Planet Earth!

...or Greek. Its orthography may be difficult (ancient language and all) but there's only one way to pronounce what you read, based on very simple, straightforward rules.  0:)

And I know I'll be in trouble in Oregon whenever I make mention of the Willamette river.

Either Brahms or Sibelius. Both are phenomenal.

Edit: Also, if it counts (and why shouldn't it?), Harold en Italie.

And another.

Well, I see that I affirmed the Prokofiev, but without (I think) actually listing 6 choices of my own.

So let us try:

Prokofiev Op.40
Bernstein Age of Anxiety
Rakhmaninov Op.27
Elgar Op.63
Martinů
Sibelius Op.43

It IS a great piece, one of the best new symphonies I discovered in 2016. Won't be my pick here, but it's worth anyone's time to get to know.

I only found out a day before arriving there for the first time - luckily I asked a friend to make sure, before saying Will-uh-MET to someone in Oregon!

They're very proud and keen on their cheese, but my wife and I much prefer New England-based cheeses, speaking generally.  Still, it's a pretty place.

Why hold anything back? Let's have it!  (beats discussing symphony numbers, not into numerology of any kind; to me it's kinda bogus - with all due respect to op).

No, no. With disaster impending tomorrow, to pile on would be cruel, and any comments about children's teething toys or rubber mouth-guards gratuitous.

Well, you can count yourself fortunate indeed to be unfamiliar with this, provel cheese : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provel_cheese  Disgusting stuff.  (Sincerest apologies to those interested in #2 symphonies...)

I mean, perhaps you do not . . . though I find it hard to believe that anyone who does like cheddar, would not enjoy their "seriously sharp" cheddar . . . .
