OK, here we go.  I am not getting any sound out of my system to the speakers.  I have tried the cd player and the phonograph.  However, I then switched to a different amp.  Still no sound from either source.  Tried the headphones as well.  No sound from them either. Has to be something simple, but I cannot figure it out.  Any and all suggestions welcomed. 8)

With two sources and two amps it seems unlikely that the problem is with the amp or sources, The problem is that with speaker and headphones, you should have sound in one of them at least.....All cables OK?

On one of my amps, when I plug in the headphones, the speakers shut off.

My thought as well.  I have four speakers hooked up.  Wires are fine.  Any further thoughts?

So, I got the Carver to work, but my Marantz still is not producing sound.  No headphone, speaker, or even FM/AM satic. The mute button is also off.

OK that's good. I suspected your hearing was gone.

8) Any idea on the Marantz? For it not to even static at AM?FM setting and then for the headphones not to work as well?

An internal fuse? Check the back. Indicator lights glowing?

Yes, they glow.

If the rest of the system works on the other amp, the Marantz must have blown its output stage. No life on any input?

That could be it. Worth fixing?

Depends on what kind of output you realy care about and the amp does? If you just want 2 channel and have a good DAC coming in, I'd say an old Marantz is worth keeping. They have been very good a very long time. If you need more logic though then this might be the time for a switch.

It is not giving out any sound at this time.  Everything looks right but it is as if the mute is on.

If it was the output stage, headphones would work, pre out would work, monitor out would work. Something on the power supply board knocked out the preamp, so no source delivers signal to the power amp. It may have knocked the power amp out as well, but that alone wouldn't explain everything before it being out.
